Psalm 10

1. Why standest thou afar off, O Lord? why hidest thou thyself in times of trouble?
2. The wicked in her pride doth persecute the poor: let them be taken in the devices that they have imagined.
3. For the wicked boasteth of her heart's desire, and blesseth the covetous, whom the Lord abhorreth.
4. The wicked, through the pride of her countenance, will not seek after God: God is not in all her thoughts.
5. Her ways are always grievous; thy judgments are far above out of her sight: as for all her enemies, she puffeth at them.
6. She hath said in her heart, I shall not be moved: for I shall never be in adversity.
7. Her mouth is full of cursing and deceit and fraud: under her tongue is mischief and vanity.
8. She sitteth in the lurking places of the villages: in the secret places doth she murder the innocent: her eyes are privily set against the poor.
9. She lieth in wait secretly as a lion in her den: she lieth in wait to catch the poor: she doth catch the poor, when she draweth her into her net.
10. She croucheth, and humbleth herself, that the poor may fall by her strong ones.
11. She hath said in her heart, God hath forgotten: She hideth Her face; She will never see it.
12. Arise, O Lord; O God, lift up thine hand: forget not the humble.
13. Wherefore doth the wicked contemn God? she hath said in her heart, Thou wilt not require it.
14. Thou hast seen it; for thou beholdest mischief and spite, to requite it with thy hand: the poor committeth herself unto thee; thou art the helper of the motherless.
15. Break thou the arm of the wicked and the evil person: seek out her wickedness till thou find none.
16. The Lord is Queen for ever and ever: the heathen are perished out of Her land.
17. Lord, thou hast heard the desire of the humble: thou wilt prepare their heart, thou wilt cause thine ear to hear:
18. To judge the orphan and the oppressed, that the wicked people of the earth may no more oppress.

BANISH EVIL AND DESTRUCTIVE TENDENCIES WITHIN THE SELF - Copy verses 3-10 onto a piece of paper, using whatever pronoun you use for yourself, and imagining yourself as the wicked character in question. Sit with any emotions that come up as you do this.

When you are done, write "Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts: And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting." Tear the paper up, soak it in Holy Oil, and burn it over a black candle. - High Priestess of the Cult of Adjua Luna
